The "Tourism central districts" in European metropolises. The case of
Madrid. - In the urban setting, the most important physiognomic feature is undoubtedly
the concentration - almost the "confinement" - of visitors to a limited area, often the
historic centre. While the resident population tends more and more to shift towards the
suburban rings, the tourism infrastructures, as well as the programming of events, tend
to narrow the spaces experienced by visitors, with creation of pre-arranged routes that
can rarely be departed from. The main aim of this paper is related to a verification of the
actual existence of what we can call "Tourism Central Districts" in some European cities.
In this research, an overview of urban policy trends is taken by means of a case study,
Madrid, in order to observe whether there is a tendency towards the reinforcing of tourism
districts, or rather towards finding a new territorial balance, with the establishment
ol new areas for visitors to enjoy.
Les "tourism central districts" dans les métropoles européennes: le cas de
Madrid. - Dans l'environnement urbain, la plus importante caractéristique physionomique
est sûrement la concentration touristique, c'est-à-dire le "confinement", à peu près,
des visiteurs dans une zone limitée, souvent le centre ville; tandis que la population
résidente tend de plus en plus à se déplacer dans les espaces suburbains, les infrastructures
touristiques, comme la programmation des événements, tendent à resserrer l'espace
vécu par les visitateurs, avec la création de parcours prédéterminés, que rarement
peuvent étre dérogés. Le principal but de cet article c'est de verifier la réelle existence
de ceux que nous pouvons appeler "Tourism Central Districts". Dans cette recherche on
développe un aperçu de les tendances des politiques urbaines dans une étude de cas,
Madrid, afin d'observer s'il y a une tendance à renforcer les quarliers touristiques ou,
plutôt, à chercher un nouveau équilibre territorial, avec l'établissement de nouvelles
zones de loisir.
