Those something uncomfortoble and very encumbering colours. Notes
on "Geografia democratica". - These notes, written on the base of sources and testimonies,
aim to provide elements to comprehend the cultural climate and the branch
profile of the group called Geografia democratica that marked out the Italian geography
in the Seventies: the nature and purposes of the group, the academic and socio-political
background, the cultural references, the different voices animating the group, the
achievements and the heritage. From the reconstruction emerges a picture worth to be
recalled by the geographic community, especially for the still sound appeal to a "civil
geography".

Ces enseignes un peu lourdes et très encombrantes. Notes sur "Geografia
democratica". - À partir des sources écrites et des témoignages orales, on donne ici
des éléments pour la compréhension du climat culturel et du profil épistémologique
du groupe appelé Geografia democratica, qui a caractérisé la géographie italienne des
années soixante-dix: la nature et les objectifs du groupe, le contexte académique et sociopolitique,
les références culturelles, les différentes voix qui l'animent, les réalisations et
l'héritage. De cette reconstruction émerge un cadre digne d'être rapportée à la mémoire
collective de la communauté des géographes, surtout pour l'appel, toujours valable, à
une "géographie civile".
