lntegrated Plans for Redeveloping trad in the outskirts of Florence: the case of the Isolotto area. - The passage of trade sector skills to the sphere of town planning has caused some interesting repercussions on policies of town design and planning.
As these two sectors converge, complex projects dealing with the spatial dimension in a non-banal manner are becoming more common in town planning. This new situation means strategies can be realised that make the effectiveness of economic, town and environmental planning the actual aim of the project.
In this paper I will outline the main characteristics of the Ipr (lntegrated Plan for Redevelopment) competition-project for an outlying area of Florence. IPR is a complex tool with the purpose of making urban space more liveable. The focal points of the project described are to give an in-depth descriptìon of the area and suggest participative methodology. The project identifies three areas in which to propose action for complete redevelopment, for example, by pedestrianising historical streets, making use of small disused shop premises, introducing ethnic stores or identifying areas to provide with council services.

Plans lntegrés de Revilalisation du commerce dans la banlieue de Florence: le cas de l'Isolotto. - Le passage des compétences du domaine commercial à celui de l'aménagement du territoire a engendré des répercussions intéressantes dans le project et la planification des politiques urbaines. La convergence des deux domaines s'associe à l'emploi en urbanisme de projects complexes, prévoyant un traitement pas banal de la dimension de l'éspace. Cette nouvelle situation permet d'employer des stratégies ayant pour but l'efficacité economique, environnementale, urbaine.
Dans cet article j'ai analisé les principales caractéristiques du project-concours pour un Pir (Plan Integré de Rervitalisation) dans un quartier dé la banlieue de Florence. Le Pir est un instrument complexe, finalisé au renforcement de la vivibilité dans le milieu urbain. La "description épaisse" du quartier et la méthodologie participative sont les éléments centraux du project-concours décrit. Le project individualise trois milieux pour lasquels on propose des actions de revitalisation integrée: établissement de rues piétonnes historiques, recouvrement des petits magasins adandonnés, introduction du commerce éthnique, individuation de zones destinées aux services en commun.
