Soft waters, bitter waters.-From an historical-geographical point of
view, this essay analyses the changes affecting La spezia town during the Nineteenth
century. In particular it traces back the contours of its landscape, that enchanted naturalists,
poets, painters and travellers,all over the world, and is characterized by the variety
of its waters: torrents,lakes,termal springs,marshes.And finally,the sea. Then,the
construction of an important Arsenale militare in the second half of the Nineteenth century
and the building of big industries in the Twentieth century have erased the landscape
and its enviroment, which had allowed La Spezia to become a famous tourist place.
Eaux douces,eaux amaires.-Létude analyse d'un point de vue géo-historique
les extraordinaires changements qui ont intéressé la ville de La Spezia au cours
du XIXe siècle et reconstruit,à partir de publications et de documents inédits, le paysage
si admiré par poètes, peintres, naturalistes et voyageurs de tout genre. L'eau sous
toutes ses formes caractérisait ce paysage exceptionnel: sources, torrents, plans d'eau,
eaux thermales, marais, et naturellement la mer. La mise en place de l'Arsenal militaire
dans la deuxième moitié du XIXe siècle et successivement l'installation de l'industrie
lourde ont marqué le début d'un processus de dégradation de l'environnement compromettant,
dès lors, la vocation touristique de ce territoire.
