Report on the XXI Italian Geographical Congress held at Verbania from the 13th to the 18th September 1971, with several hundred participants present, of whom 37 were foreigners. Most of the work of the congress consisted of the presentation of the general reports, and of the "round tables" at which these reports were then discussed. The subjects were as follows: natural disasters in the Alps, the alpine cities, alpine communications within the framework of European communications, geographical research and teaching. These studies were complemented by some exhibitions and the excursions.
