The fifth Conference of the International Cartographic Association at Stresa. Report on the Conference of the International Cartographic Association, held from the 5th to the 9 the of May at Stresa (Italy), with the participation of about 200 people. The Conference was organized by a Committee headed by Dr.U.Bonapace of the Istituto Geografico De Agostini (Novara). Many reports and papers were presented, grouped under the following headings: cartography of mountainous regions; standardisation of symbols in thematic cartography; maps as a means of expression and communication; synthetic social-economic map. Two interesting exhibitions of maps, especially thematic maps, had also been set up. The general impression of the writer of this note is that nothing really new in scientific field was presented.
