The XXXI Interuniversity Geographical Excursion from Genoa to Pavia. The XXXI Interuniversity Geographical Excursion was held, in May of this year, in the region between Genoa, Alessandria and Pavia, with the participation of about ninety professors and assistants. The chief facts observed and discussed were: the sphere of influence of Genoa and particularly of its port; the industrial decentralization of Genoa inland into Piedmont, and the connected problem of road and railway communications; the importance of the agriculture of the regions of Alessandria and Pavia south of the Po; the exodus from the country and mountain districts of the Apennine valleys of these two regions, on account of the attraction of the larger cities of the Po plain.
