The importance of private enterprise and the origins of the Marches modern economy. The Albani family's rôle. - The analyses of industrialization processes in the Marches region have long disregarded the role of the Albani family, which can be inserted into a wider project of economic succes that also involved Romagna, Latium and
Lombardy. Hence, the opportunitv for a more detailed study aimed to reach a deeper interpretation and understanding on the economic transformations of this area, which in far more recent times has proved to have adopted a highly remarkable development model. Drawing upon first-hand, yet unutilized sources, the present research examines the family's forerunning entrepreneurial mentality; which was born as far back as the
16th century, introducing unprecedented economic models in activating the first industrial processes in the region. Among these new models: heavy investments in revitalizing languishing productive sectors (ceramic, silk production); concentration of the most dynamic manufacturing activities in urban areas; production aimed for overseas markets; a preference for innovative and pioneering activities that have left a long-lasting trace in the regional enterprising structure (sulfur, electrical industries, beach resorts); specialization in the production of luxury items for niche markets throughout Europe (crystal, majolica, pins, silk); efficacious restructuring of productive systems and social reposi tioning of master craftsmen; a particular attention devoted to create efficient distribution channels for the marketing of finished products and raw materials; the improvement of regional and infra-regional transportation networks; a gradual modernization of resource exploitation systems; diversification of economic initiatives, between traditional activities and new productive patterns.

L'importance des entreprises privées dans la naissance de l'économie moderne des Marches. Le rôle de la famille Albani. - Dans l'analyse des processus d'industrialisation des Marches, on a longuement délaissé le rôle joué par la famille Albani, qui s'est inscrit dans un vaste projet d'affirmation économique et a concerné également la Romagne, le Latium et la Lombardie. La recherche analyse le travail précurseur de cette famille dont la mentalité managériale remonte au XVIe siècle et suit des modèles jamais expérimentés auparavant, dans l'organisation des premières formes d'industriàlisation de la région, c'est-à-dire: un investissement de liquidités considérables pour revitaliser des secteurs productifs à la traîne; une centralisation des activités manufacturières les plus dynamiques dans les zones urbaines; une destination de la production vers des marchés lointains; un choix d'activités innovatrices; une spécialisation dans la production d'articles de luxe; un efficace réaménagement de la logistique des systèmes de production; une attention particulière dans la création d'efficacés canaux de distribution commerciale pour la vente des produits manufacturés et des matières premières; une modernisation progressive des formes d'exploitation des ressources et une diversification des initiatives dans le cadre d'un projet intégré entre des activités traditionnelles et de nouvelles expressions de production.
