Brief data on the new province of Isernia, in the region of Molise, constituted by the law of the 2nd February 1970 which separated it from the province of Campobasso. Area 152.80 sq. Kms., resident population 98,147 inhabitants on the 31st December 1968, density 64 inch. per sq. km. The most general activity is still agriculture, although the mountainous character of the territory is to its disadvantage. Main centers are Isernia (14,241 inhabitants in the Commune in 1968), Agnone, Venafro, Frosolone.
